The Department of Higher Education and Training says it has implemented measures on its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges system towards its goal of 2.5 million enrolments by the year 2030. The total of ministerially funded programme enrolments for this academic year is expected to be almost 500 000, of which more than 160 000 will be new students. Although TVET colleges have been transformed over the years, they face many challenges, including lack of financial support and infrastructure. To highlight this and other issues impacting Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges, we are joined by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela.
